Much easier than a canoe though! I can hear some wind noise when it is on, but barely. Plus I wanted to be able to get it on and off by myself, and I can do that, but it is somewhat difficult. I wanted the 21 but didn't want to worry about sizing or the rear hatch touching it. I ended up ordering it directly from the company that is selling it on Amazon for slightly cheaper overall price (RV & Auto Parts, name of vendor, $503 shipped). I just got my Yakima Skybox 16 Carbonite on my 2015 Outback. Probably not a big deal, just a minute or two extra to install/remove.Īnyway, I'm sure there are happy owners of all the main brands. The Thule mount requires you to turn the handle many times to get each one closed. This is good for me as I will be removing and installing it quite often. Flip a clip and it is unlocked (four mounting points like most boxes). The mounting/clamping system is also nice as it has a memory mount. Another selling point was the base of the box was much tougher/stronger than the other boxes I looked at with the exception of maybe the Thule Hyper XL. If you look at the Inno (at least the Wedge series, maybe all of them), the base has a bit of a cutout so the box sits lower/closer to the roof than many other cargo boxes. I turned the stereo off during the drive. At 65 mph, I was getting 29.3+ mpg highway. At 60 mph, I was getting 34+ mpg highway. I tested the aerodynamics on the way home. I didn't ask what that meant, though I've read a few reviews about people breaking the keys. ![]() ![]() They carry Inno, Thule and Yakima (maybe more). I bought it from Rack n Road in Sacramento. Today, I bought an Inno Wedge 624 like Jake McCoy (page 2 of this thread). Sunroof works, see the nose of the box and hatch clears easily.ĥ pairs of skis (2 adult & 3 kids), poles, jackets, shoes and gloves.I've been researching cargo boxes for a week or two. Scratches easily, as it scratched from the time the REI employees unboxed it in the back of the store to bringing it to the front of the store. Locks ok, not the easiest to open as there is a fair amount of flex in the lid and it is best opened with two hands. Noise is negligible with the sunroof shade closed. 30mpg when its above freezing and driving 65mph. 25mpg when it's sub freezing and driving 80mph. I think the overall height was 82" to the top of the box.Ģ5-30mpg with Blizzaks and the cargo box. We bought the Yakima Grand Tour Lo just for this reason as we needed the clearance to get into parking garages. No, just during the ski season Dec - Mar. Three large stackable totes full to the top and surrounded by life vests, oars, 2 sleeping bags, and a few other bits Trunk opens, but I do adjust the max height setting to be about 1/2” lower (easy to do and easy to reset back to full) Can use sunroof and see box, but wind noise is annoying when box is on and sunroof open. Fine, but we don’t keep it on unless needed Slight difference in feel when hit with extremely strong crosswind, or some turbulence from huge trucks going by on highway, but nothing that caused me to soil myself In fact, my wife mentioned how surprised she was it’s not louder Nobody mentioned it on a cross-country trip driving almost 2 weeks straight. ![]() What is your record haul in the box.how much did you get up there?
